A wonderful outing to the Eagle Sanctuary near Stellenbosch, arranged by Somerset West Club.

The last ladies who are left from this Club are going to join the Probus Tokai Ladies Club as at December 1st, 2021. It was a lovely, sunny morning at this new location and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their scones with raspberry jam & fresh cream, carrot cake and delicious chocolate. Their very last meeting will be the Joint Xmas Luncheon to be held on Thursday, 18th November at the Westlake Golf Club.

The Probus Ladies from Constantiaberg & Tokai Clubs met for a joint luncheon at Westlake Golf Club. It was a good turnout this month and the speaker was Nick French who spoke to the Ladies on the subject of "Inside Alcatraz". A very interesting talk about the complete history of the Island of Alcatraz, located in San Francisco Bay, some 2kms off shore from San Fransisco, USA. First established in 1934 and closed when it was a high security prison in 1963. Nick also presented a gift to Nikki Miles for her help in setting up the new Probus Council website and also as website administrator for our PAWC website.
A celebration of the 29 years together and the sad closing of the Ladies Probus Club of Constantiaberg due to Covid pandemic and dwindling numbers, as at 30th November, 2021. Speaker: Rob Sproul, to try and encourage the remaining Constantiaberg Ladies to join the Tokai Ladies Club. Great, encouraging speech! Several Ladies have completed a new membership form to join up with the Tokai Ladies Club. Speeches from Nikki Miles, President, to thank members for all their continued support during Covid times and celebration of 29 years wonderful times and great memories of their various get-togethers during those most memorable times. Existing members will be joining Tokai Ladies as at 1st November, 2021. A lovely & moving response from Mari Brumage, Vice President, with a small gift to Nikki for her endeavours over the last 2 years for trying to keep our Club together during Covid times and something towards her move to McGregor on 1st Dec. 2021.
The Ladies Club of Constantiaberg held their first Fellowship coffee morning since the start of the second lockdown this year. We were all delighted to meet up again after so long and a great time was had by all. The Cafe has extended quite a bit and the food was absolutely delicious!
We were due to have Nick French as our main speaker on the subject of The Bombay Railway. Menu: Beef Stroganoff - strips of sirloin in a sour cream sauce served on a bed of parsley rice R100.00. Dessert (optional) Pear & Apple crumble with custard R20.
This morning we had a record turnout to our Fellowship meeting at Cafe Roux, Noordhoek. A total of 14 ladies attended between our two clubs, Constantiaberg & Tokai Ladies. It was a beautiful morning, the sun shone, the service was excellent and the food very delicious despite being in the middle of loadshedding!! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and will probably come back again to this beautiful Farm Village location. Well done to all those Ladies who turned up today!!
The Ladies of Constantiaberg & Tokai Probus Clubs held their first joint luncheon at Westlake Golf Club. A total of 28 members attended which was a great turnout for both clubs. Nikki Miles, President of Ladies Constantiaberg Club, gave a speech and a warm welcoming to all those who attended. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their lunch and liked the idea of being seated next to different members (socially spaced per Covid rules) as a "get to know you" situation between the two clubs. This was followed by a brief speech by Mary Bramwell, Acting President of Tokai Ladies and then Grace was said by Mari Brumage, Past President. A wonderful afternoon was had by all and it is hoped to be repeated over the next 6 months.
On Wednesday 19 May 2021, sixteen members and fourteen lovely ladies met to explore the Cavalli Estate - best known for its restaurant, museum, art gallery and American Saddle Horses. The gallery featured works by one Jordan Sweke (interesting technique, some explicit nudity). The museum is mainly devoted to sports - autographed cricket, rugby, boxing, football and other sporting memorabilia. But the highlight was the visit to the stables where we were introduced to the horses by the stable manager, Teniel O’Hara. We met stallions and geldings and mares, were able to touch and stroke those that she assured us would not bite and learn about their particular natures and dressage skills. Teniel ended our visit with a demonstration of lunging - a horse was brought into the arena on a lead and responded to verbal and hand signals from Teniel by firstly trotting in a circle and then speeding up to a canter. The awesome power of a horse in action is indeed a sight to behold. We ended the outing by crossing the R44 to Eikendal were we enjoyed the excellent fare offered by Giovanni’s restaurant.
Nick French speaking to Hermanus members on The Life of Dr. Christian Barnard.
This was our 2nd Fellowship coffee morning held this year with some of our Probus Ladies' members. Although small in number, we all enjoyed ourselves in the wonderful sunshine and caught up with all our latest news. Afterwards, we had a great walk around Stodels Garden Centre looking at all the wonderful plants they had for sale. Definitely worth a second visit!
We had an amazing speech by Trevor Quirk who regaled us with his golf and cricket stories from a bygone era. A wonderful meeting attended by 44 members and guests. Wonderful atmosphere, wonderful food!
This is our very first Ladies Fellowship since Covid lockdown. At long last we were able to welcome our Ladies to come together and enjoy our special coffee morning outside in these beautiful surroundings.
Both clubs combined a very special Joint Christmas Luncheon with all their members amid the Covid pandemic but was allowed to be held at Westlake Golf Club with special Covid rules. Speakers were Liz Wheeler (past President) and Barbara Bassett (Committee member). A wonderful celebration was enjoyed by all!!
Our special Anniversary Luncheon to celebrate 28 years since the commencement of the Ladies Probus Club of Constantiaberg, with guest speaker, Nick French, Chairman PAWC. A great time was had by all.
